  • Twelve new charging stations around Rügen

Twelve new charging stations around RügenTwelve new charging stations were put into operation in the holiday regions of Rügen and Fischland-Darß-Zingst. A quick charging station is to be built next year.

The formal opening of the new charging stations took place this week in Putbus on the Circus, due to the corona restrictions only on a small scale "with invited guests from politics and business", as the Stadtwerke Stralsund announces. With the twelve pillars, SWS Energie GmbH, the energy supplier to Stralsunder Stadtwerke, wants a “charging infrastructure that meets the needs of the tourist environment” - it should enable locals and tourists to charge at the same time.

For holidaymakers, charging points are becoming increasingly important when it comes to choosing a holiday destination: According to the message, the tourism associations in both regions confirm the urgent need for additional charging facilities. In addition to the twelve new AC chargers, the SWSE operates five further AC columns, each with two charging points, and a quick charging station in Stralsund. A second quick charging station is planned in Bergen and is scheduled to go into operation in 2021.

The twelve charging stations that have now been opened have been funded with 58,800 euros by the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Development Institute, the funds come from the “European Fund for Regional Development” (EFRE). At a total cost of 196,000 euros, the funding rate is the maximum possible 30 percent. According to the notification, SWS Energie GmbH will bear the remaining 137,200 euros.
