GridX installs 34 intelligent charging points in BerlinWith its Smart Charging solution, the Aachen-based company GridX has intelligently networked 34 charging stations for electric vehicles in two buildings of the Axel Springer media group in Berlin. As a result, costly network expansion and peak loads could be avoided.

The media group's employees can charge their electric vehicles with the charging points, while GridX's load management controls the charging processes according to the available energy. When the grid connection of the building reaches its maximum capacity, the dynamic load management automatically reduces the charging capacity of the cars.

According to GridX, various charging scenarios can be configured, including priority charging. Predictive charging, taking into account the next time of use and the required range, is also possible.

Ten charging points are currently installed in the underground car park of the Axel Springer Passage and 24 charging points in the new Axel Springer building in Berlin - according to a media report, the charging points in the Springer Passage reach 22 kW and in the new building 11 kW. However, the Aachen-based company stated in the notification that additional charging points "can be easily and unlimitedly added in the future". The manufacturer-independent system is intended to enable companies with a high number of charging points to control all charging processes cost-effectively and intelligently.

The media group is satisfied with the first experiences. "The cooperation with gridX was professional and results-oriented, both in terms of the technical coordination for the installation of load management and commissioning, as well as in the technical support after handover," says Lutz Seidenberg, Corporate Technical Management, Axel Springer Services & Immobilien. "The management dashboard provided for the control and monitoring of the system is self-explanatory and provides all the information and settings relevant to the user in a clearly structured manner."

According to its own statements, GridX also includes companies such as Innogy, Digital Charging Solutions, Eebus and Viessmann among its customers.
